Winter Wood Delivery
Up until now we have been using what had remained of last years wood supply & it's been going down steadily resulting in the need to replenish the wood pile. A notice written in Greek had been posted on a fence near to the Lidl supermarket which Simon had told me was 'Olive Wood For Sale' I went up there last week to take a note of the telephone number to hopefully be able to obtain an amount to see us through the Winter. My boss, Lisa, speaks Greek fluently so I asked whether she would mind making the phone call on my behalf to enquire about getting a delivery, ensuring I ordered pieces that would fit in my wood burner. Lisa agreed & it was arranged that I would drive down to the local football pitch to meet Dimitris, the wood man, this evening so he could follow me back to the house.
This is a commonplace thing to have to do here, with not having 'an address' as such. It's either that or try to describe how to get to where you live so it's often easier to meet up somewhere that everyone knows & lead them to where they have to go.
So at 5.30 pm I met up with Dimitris & guided him back to the house, where he off-loaded 50 Euro worth of olive wood, which will hopefully see us through. The wood pile looks a lot healthier now. As I'm writing this I have a fire lit in the wood burner, & two very sleepy, dreaming dogs lying very contentedly on my lounge floor & it's so very cosy.

Hi Sandra.. I think i've kicked a ball about on that pitch with Kostas from the Tassia apartments and a local team.
I'm getting to recognise some of the places in your blog now. Agrilia market which i know very well as there is a lovely little Taverna / rstaurant just round the corner.. The Apolafsi Grill.
Has the Lidl supermarket affected many of the smaller markets in the area. We chatted to the couple who run the Palataki market and they had concerns back in 2004 when they were just starting to build it.

Hello Sandra, just caught up with your comings and goings over the past few weeks and it sounds like you're there for good now!! I really don't blame you; just get a copy of the Daily Mail any day you like and you'll see what you're not missing!!
As I'd expected, you've settled very well and now have a job organising someone else's life which you'll excel at!
I hope that you have something sorted out for Christmas, we've got our Sheila coming down. Bethan in the room and she says Hi.
Just had a Tesco Internet Phone delivered so I'll get Del Boy to instal it and show me how to use it and we can then have a chat!
Speak soon.
love
David

wudja.cudja - the football ground is the one very close to the airport. Don't know the Apolafsi Grill, will have to look out for it, it's probably shut for the Winter. I don't know what impact there has been on the smaller markets due to Lidl, when I was in Lidl the other day many customers seemed to be English!
Hi to my bro David, I think you're right Dave, can't see myself coming back now, like you say what am I really missing - family & friends most definately but not UK life. You'll have to get yourselves out here for a visit, would love to see you all & show off my new home.
I've been invited to a friends house for Christmas so should be ok. Looking forward to you getting your Tesco phone up & running - any problems, I believe sis Anne is the expert - now who'd have thought we would ever say that LOL
