Hitting the Heights of Mount Skopos

One of my Winter challenges, set by my message board friends, was to make my way up to a caravan snack bar located somewhere up the hills behind the resort of Kalamaki. However, there is a route up to the top of Mount Skopos, also from Kalamaki.
Having decided the day before that we (we being myself, Debbie & her 7 year old daughter, Simone) would set off into the hills if the weather was fair, I made the decision to try for the top of Mount Skopos as our target rather than the lower snack caravan. So would we make it?
Take a look:
Here is me outside the Cave Bar, which was the starting point of our walk.

On the hillsides, the gorse/broom (not sure which) was in bloom with it's bright yellow flowers & I wish that you could smell it too. We kept getting wonderful wafts of sweet smelling scent - wonderful.

Here's Debs, heading up the track shortly after setting off.

Wonderful views of the Ionian Sea as we take the track that will hopefully take us where we want to go.

As we pass above a small beach, someone is busy catching their supper.

Onwards & upwards - just look at that blue sky - luckily we had all remembered put sun cream on.

We saw some beautiful wild flowers along the way.

Looking back down to Kalamaki beach & Laganas Bay.

Looking up to one of the numerous quarries.

Debs & Simone as we reach one of the disused quarries.

All the effort in getting up there suddenly rewarded by the view of Zakynthos town & harbour laid out before us.

On reaching the top the various masts located at this high spot come into view.

Up on the top.

Here's both me & Debs

- Simone didn't want her picture taken but she made it too - she did really, really well.
Have to say what a fantastic day this was, think we all thoroughly enjoyed it & felt we'd achieved something too.
